Antigua and Barbuda citizenship
Compare investment routes, family needs and subsequent residence requirements when considering Antigua and Barbuda citizenship by investment.
Investment options
The National Development Fund (NDF) is a one-time contribution, with an official minimum of US$230,000 per application. Other routes include approved real estate, qualifying business investment and the University of the West Indies Fund, which has a family-size requirement. Minimums, holding rules and fees vary.
Eligibility and family
The main applicant and accompanying dependants must meet programme criteria and pass due diligence. Whether a spouse, child or parent qualifies depends on the relationship, age and dependency. Check the current criteria with the authority and a licensed agent.
Application process
Prepare and submit through a licensed authorised agent and comply with due diligence, interview and additional document requests. After approval in principle, complete the contribution or investment and pay the balance, then follow the official steps for citizenship certificates, the oath and passports.
Documents and costs
Common documents include identity, birth or marriage records, police certificates and evidence of wealth and source of funds; translation or certification may be required. Government processing, due diligence, passport and agent fees may be payable in addition to the contribution. Obtain an itemised family quote before submission.
After citizenship
The authority requires citizenship-by-investment recipients to spend at least five days in the country during the first five calendar years after citizenship. Check holding and resale conditions for real estate separately, along with the implications for existing nationality, tax and travel.
