The pathway
Chile’s temporary residence for retirees and rentiers is not a dedicated digital nomad visa. It is for people with a qualifying retirement pension or regular income from real estate or financial assets; remote employment income alone is not rentier income.
Prepare your application
Applications are generally submitted from outside Chile through the National Migration Service. Prepare a passport, criminal record and evidence of the pension or assets and income, as applicable; check translation and authentication requirements.
After approval
Check residence validity, renewal and family conditions, and verify the permission and tax implications of remote work for your circumstances. Permanent residence has separate eligibility and residence requirements and is not automatic.
